River Heights Lutheran Church is built upon the foundation of God’s Holy Word. We confess and believe the Bible is inerrant: inspired by God, who spoke through His prophets and apostles. The primary purpose of God’s Word is to point us to His Son, Jesus Christ, and His redeeming work: He lived the perfect life for us, paid for our sins on the cross, and rose again, proclaiming that victory over sin, death, and hell itself is found in Him and Him alone. We confess that the redeeming work of Christ comes to us through God’s Word, baptism, and the Lord’s Supper. The work of Christ is received in the individual by faith, which is worked in us by these same means.
This faith is alive and active in those God has made His own. By God’s grace, we day by day fight the good fight of faith, battling against our sinful nature and following Christ. Out of gratefulness for what our Savior Jesus has done for us, we seek to live out our lives in accordance with God’s will for us: to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. We see the time and resources God gives us in this life as gifts we should use to glorify Him, so others may see the love God gave us through His Son by the love that we show to them.
